MATCH POINT
with DGDG
site-specific performance
MATCH POINT is a public performance involving dance, clown, athletics, and interactive elements.
Set to the score of Antonio Vivaldi's “The Four Seasons,” this four-part performance follows a group of athletes navigating distinct misinterpretations of the game of tennis. Why tennis? Because the game of tennis is a test of boundaries, a constant give and take of conversation and effort, and a battle between two sides.
In MATCH POINT, the competition is between the athletes and the audience. The rituals are shared and grow. Perfection is achieved, and a winner is crowned, but at what cost?

FIRST ITERATION
MATCH POINT was first performed at the AURORA Biennial 2024: FuturePresentPast in Dallas, Texas, on November 16, 2024, outside the Dallas Convention Center.

SECOND ITERATION
MATCH POINT was next performed at Dallas Contemporary on July 11, 2025, as part of their Summer Series as an installment of their DC EMPTY series.
With DGDG, we build performance around architecture and audience, considering the relationship that both elements demand. Walking through Dallas Contemporary, admiring the elegant long lines and poise of the space, and considering the vibrant, curious audience which Dallas Contemporary attracts, we knew that MATCH POINT would be the perfect fit. The piece plays with attention and duration in delightfully unserious ways and presents the interactivity of human beings playing with ideas, not burdening them with canonical weight.
We presented MATCH POINT on Friday, July 11, 2025 to over 200 people spread over three performances.
